La Rocca’s Requiem for the Homeless up on YouTube

Check it out here. It is as beautiful as I remember from hearing it at Mass. Review here. Upon a second listen, I here more Faure and Barber in there than anything else.

Here is the Introit:

Author: Joseph Moore

Enough with the smarty-pants Dante quote. Just some opinionated blogger dude.

  1. Requiem for the Homeless? Why have I never heard of this before? Possibly because I don’t attend a Catholic church. Since I have never heard of it before, I am suspicious that it some kind of recent invention. However, you don’t seem to be a fadist, maybe it’s a real thing.

    1. It was premiered last Saturday, so you haven’t had much of a chance to hear of it. 🙂 while Requiem masses go back many centuries, this is the first one I’ve ever heard of devoted specifically to the homeless. It was commissioned by the archbishop of San Francisco.

Frank LaRocca is a real deal composer, not a fad at all.
