2016: Hitting for the Spiritual Cycle

and making a few plays in the field as well. Lord knows I need it. Tying to start the year off right, and things just fell together to allow us to do some good stuff:

  • On January 1, Solemnity of the Mother of God, Mass (a beautiful Ordinary Form Mass in Latin at St. Margaret Mary’s in Oakland), confession, communion, Adoration (At Margaret Mary’s, they have Exposition on First Fridays after the mid-morning Mass – which happened to fall on New Year’s this year).
  • Heading over to pass through the Mercy Door at the Oakland Cathedral tomorrow (after Mass for Epiphany at Margaret Mary’s)  to finish the requirements for a plenary indulgence.
  • As has become our custom, the family spent that last few minutes of 2015 and the first few of 2016 at St. Agnes in their Adoration Chapel.
  • Also in the middle of a Novena to Mary, Undoer of Knots (somebody else’s idea, I’m just along for the ride – but it’s still good.)

So, a pretty good start to 2016. Very blessed that so much of this is so convenient – I know from my travels around the country that, in many places, it’s hard to even find a Mass, let alone having multiple choices, Latin Masses and chant choirs within a short drive  and  a 24-7 Adoration chapel a mile and a half away. I guess I’m here because I need to be here. Whoda thunk it?

Have a happy, blessed and holy 2016!

Enough with the smarty-pants Dante quote. Just some opinionated blogger dude.
